This is a reproduction of an antique Italian ex-voto, such as the ones that were made in the late 1800's. This ex-voto is made of tin, and it has a beautiful tarnished, antique finish that mimics sterling silver. It is 12 inches tall from top to bottom, and 8.5 inches wide.
It is made of many individual pieces of tin in the shapes of halos, wings and other ornamental designs that have been melded together to create a double frame for a flaming heart in the center. At the bottom of the ex-voto is a cherub with wings. The center of the flaming heart has a crown projecting from the base of the flame, with the letters PGR tied with wire to the center of the heart. The letters PGR stand for Per Grazia Ricevuta, which is an Italian phrase that means thanks for prayers received.
Ex-Votos are viewed by many as a personal 'thank you' to God. It's a beautiful display piece for your Santos collection.
The milagro is as pictured, though small differences may occur from piece to piece.
